La Patagonia Chilena es una Región Natural que abarca la Provincia de Palena (paralelo 43º 30'), la Región de Aisén y la Región de Magallanes, territorio donde se manifiestan una gran diversidad de paisajes que van de la Pampa Patagónica a los fiordos y canales donde se sumergen las nevadas cumbres de la Cordillera de los Andes. Es una Región donde no existe contaminación, y las aguas de sus numerosos lagos, lagunas, ríos y arroyos se presentan con un grado de incomparable pureza. En la Patagonia Chilena se encuentran los últimos Campos de Hielos continentales, testigos mudos de la última glaciación, con una antigüedad de 20 mil años. El campo de Hilo Norte se encuentra íntegramente en la Región de Aisén, dando origen a las mayores alturas de los Andes Australes, como el Cerro San Valentin de 4.058 m.s.n.m. La totalidad del Campo de Hielo Norte se encuentra dentro del Parque Nacional Laguna San Rafael, dando origen a varios ventisqueros, entre los que destaca el Ventisquero San Rafael, que desesemboca en la Laguna del mismo nombre. __________________________________________ __________________________________________ The chilean patagonia is a natural region which encompasses the Province of Palena (Paralelo 43º 30') as well as the regions of Aisen and Magallanes, a territory which manifests a great diversity of scenery wich runs from the Patagonian plains to the fiords and canals where the icy peaks of the Andes are submerged. This is a region where pollution does not exist, and the waters of its countless rivers and lakes are of incomparable purity. In the Chilean Patagonia the last of the continental ice fields are found, mute testiments to the final period of glaciation, and wich are about 20.000 years old. The northern ice field is located entirely within the Region of Aisén, and give origin to the highest elevations within the austral or southern Andes, such as Mt. Sn. Valentin at 4.058 meters above sea level. The totality of the nothern ice field is found within the Laguna San Rafael National Park and is the source of glaciars among wich is Glaciar San Rafael, wich reaches into the lagoon of the same name.
